Mary has all but given up the stage - or has she? Her photographs pay the bills far more than her fancy musical education. But Mary has secrets. . .secrets she dare not share with even the roguish Mr. Kennedy.
A roving paparazzi lens changes all that for them. . .
Can Daniel forgive Mary for hiding her past - and her present? Will their relationship break like a violin string - or will their love endure the chaos?

Review

This was a pleasant read.  I enjoyed living the secret life of Mary's archangel with her.   This was the first book of this series that I have read.  It can be read as a stand alone but why stop there?  I enjoyed Jamie's writing so much that I bought the others that are out from the Tudor family

Daniel is such a sweet, gentle man for the most part.  Mary has been looking for "more" until Daniel. She was searching for her way in life without her family but stopped after meeting Daniel.  Mary is very talented but her she hadn't received much support until Daniel.  This couple is portrayed as a very fitting sweet couple.  Although Mary is kind she can show her claws around the other females.......

As I stated it can be read as a stand alone but why stop there?  I enjoyed the book so much that I bought the rest of the series.  Happy reading and Enjoy.

Excerpt

It was there one night when I was up on stage in my latex cat suit…my gimmick, my platform a mask, a Venetian masque. Always in one of three colors, purple, hot pink or green. I was an entirely different person as I sang my gut out and played my violin. Yeah you heard me right - violin. That night he stood at the edge of the stage, looking up at me, with a mischievous grin on his face. Mr. Violin Virtuoso himself, Daniel Kennedy. I had noticed him at the club a time or two before.
We had studied together in New York years ago. Only now, I could tell he was second guessing who I really was. Who is this woman who can make a violin weep, though not nearly as well as I can. She can, none the less, make the angels shed tears.
About half way through my set, I happened to glance down at this dangerously striking man and noticed he was still smiling. He raised his drink. Was it in a mock salute, or was it more? I was too into what I was doing to tell, much less care.
I never, ever mingled with the crowd after a show. Not that I wouldn't love to every now and then. No, I was afraid some young drunk jerk would pull off my mask, exposing my identity to the world. Then Archangel would be no more.
My requirements for playing in the clubs was a cab ride home and for the owner to escort me to the waiting cab, just in case. Other than that, I played for free. Self promotion at its best.
I was putting my violin away when I heard someone behind me. I immediately turned to see who it was. And Daniel Kennedy stood not three feet from me. In my personal space, again.
"Where did you learn to play?" he asked.
"Around," I replied smugly.
"Hmmm, mysterious. I like that. Could I interest you in a drink Ms. Archangel?"
"Thank you, but no. I make it a rule to never go out for drinks with clubbers."
"Ah, is that what I am?"
"Aren't you?"
The club owner appeared out of the hallway. "Cab's here. You ready, babe?"
I noted Daniel's grimace at the familiarity Jake had used with me. "Yeah, almost," I replied.
"Well, Mr. Kennedy, I look forward to seeing you brighten up my audience again soon." I smiled and turned toward the hall.
"Who are you?"
"Archangel, kind sir." Oh, he was fun.
"No, really, who are you? I feel we've met before."
"Oh, I bet you say that to all the girl's you try to pick up." I teased, but he wasn't deterred.
"What sort of name is Archangel, sweet?"
"What sort of name is Kennedy?" I shot back. "I thought you were French. Kennedy is anything but French."
"My mother's maiden name, if you must know. My father's name is much too hard for English speaking fans."
"Scottish or Irish Kennedy's?" I taunted walking down the hall and towards the back door, my cab, and freedom from this inquisitive and delicious man.
"Scottish, why?"
"Just curious, that's all."
As I reached the door Jake was holding open, I turned and looked down the hall. Daniel had stopped, his arms folded over his chest, his legs wide apart. He was quite a handsome thing with all his bling, tight jeans, T-shirt, and jacket. His face was rough with scruff. And that hair! My God what woman wouldn't die for a head of luscious hair like that?
Rather than continue drooling, I blew a crimson-stained kiss in his direction. "This is for you, Mr. Daniel Kennedy."
He played along, pretending to catch my kiss in his hand. He closed his hand and placed it over his heart. His smile made my body tingle in places-well in places that it hadn't tingled in quite a long time.
Raising my arm as high as it would go, I waved then pivoted on the ball of my foot. "Until next time, Mr. Daniel Kennedy. Good night."

Genre: Dark Literary Fiction
Publisher: Booktrope

Blurb/Synopsis:
From the author of the bestselling genre-defining Enchanters series, comes a new literary tour de force about Emily, a young woman balancing two worlds between her fingertips: the one that is real to her and the one that is real to everyone else… The question is: which one will she choose? Never romanticizing what it means to be a twenty-something schizophrenic in a world broken by normalcy and half-baked fairytales, Allie Burke’s latest novel unites Emily and her world at large spanning from the streets of Russia, to the sheets of her bed, to the idiosyncratic comfort she gets from worlds that don’t exist at all. Woven with angst and darkness, bursting with heartache, Paper Souls tells of the irreparably damaged and broken, and how they survive.

Review

WOW! What can I say about this book? This was such and interesting read. VERY INTERESTING! Emily is such an intriguing individual. She falls into this very weird love triangle. She loves someone that really only loves one person and that is himself. The name is such a wonderful name for this book. I fell in love with the main character Emily because she is suck a kick ass person. She has battled so many demons in her life and still she keeps moving forward. I felt true heartache for her. I wanted to reach inside and slap a character or two. I truly love how Allie Burke brought out different emotions with her story. This was such a work of art. There is so much I want to say about this book but I won't because I don't want to chance leaving any spoilers. If you are looking for an emotional journey, go pick up your copy!

Excerpt
In that moment that she gazed down at him, taking in his soft features, Emily truly believed she would never see Brendan again. That their years of a practically silent friendship would be for naught, because he loved her, but the universe wouldn’t let her have him. Because the universe didn’t grant beautiful things like Brendan Tanner. Not to girls like Emily. Over time, she forgot that she ever had this thought. And once, in the many years that followed, when she remembered, she wished more than anything that she had kept it in mind. That Emily Colt wasn’t good enough for Brendan Tanner and never would be. You’re never going to forgive me for this, she said. I’m sorry. She kissed him. His lips were warm. His mouth on fire. Emily was on fire. His hand was on her neck, choking her. She had never been choked in a sexual situation, or in any situation, before. She invited the pain. Any feeling was better than the absence of it, and every day she craved the kind of physical connection laced with the chemistry that currently passed between them. This physical feeling was the best that Emily had ever had. He rose from the ground and, with his other hand, he squeezed her hip. Emily screamed. He was on top of her; the center console dug into her spine. She unconsciously arched her back, rising to his stiffness. He groaned, tightening his grip and biting her bottom lip hard. He pulled away and took her by the hands and pulled her out of the car. He wrapped her in his arms. Over his shoulder, the moon was full. Beautiful night, Emily whispered. You’re beautiful, he replied. That was the last and only time Brendan ever told Emily she was beautiful.

RBTL Presents Black Moon by F.M. Sherrill & Becca C Smith Book Review.

Title: Black Moon

Author/Authors: F.M. Sherrill & Becca C Smith

Series: Black Moon Saga

Genre: Dark Paranormal Romance

Publisher: Red Frog Publishing

Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print

Blurb/Synopsis:

Shea Harper is forced to stay in boring, hot and dry Phoenix, Arizona for college. But once she meets the enigmatic yet positively egocentric Lucian, Shea’s life changes forever.
She finds out that she comes from a long line of descendants called Vessels. In her soul is the key to destroying an ancient prison protecting the world from darkness itself: Lucian’s father.
Up until now, Lucian has captured every descendant except Shea. With her powers awakening, all vampires want to drag her down to the pit. But Lucian is territorial. She’s the first female Vessel… and he’s convinced she belongs to him.
Saucy and tauntingly surprising, Black Moon captures the struggle between burning alive with desire and castrating the heart. This is a love story that will drain you dry.

                                           REVIEW

Black Moon was a good book.  It had a different take on the Vampire world.  You have two different guys that are in love with Shea.  One she loves like a brother and the other she is in love with.  After 3000 years she is the very first female vessel.  A vessel is born every 500 years.  Lucian's father needs her to break the curse but he is in love with her and can't hand her over.  Friendships are broken, friendships are renewed, and love is found.  This book is jammed full of action.  I can't wait to hear more about the characters...

Author Information

Aren't author's bios boring? I always wanted to read one that went something like this:

F.M. Sherrill: recent citizen of earth. Plans on ruling the planet once she gets over the common cold. Or, F.M. Sherrill: time traveler. Decided to alter the space-time continuum by writing a novel, thus changing history slightly, which will eventually lead to the rise of a new human species.

But here it is. F.M. Sherrill is a novelist, A.K.A. an avid bullshitter; that's why she lives in L.A. She's been writing for as long as her ancient mind can remember, devouring tales like an anemic vampire roaming the streets in hot pink heels, always thirsty for more. When she's not writing, she's making steampunk weapons, sewing giant plant-eater Mario plushes, making costumes for some film bloke or cosplayer, and sculpting/casting movie prop replicas while gardening in her urban apartment. Her favorite tools? A soldering iron, a blowtorch, a band saw, a sonic screwdriver, a replicator and an active imagination.

This book what can I say about it?  WOW!  Zoey Derrick has implemented all the right amounts of descriptions in this book.  This book does heed to the content warning.  It does have some very good explicit sex scenes.  I loved this book from beginning to end.  I have read a lot of BDSM books and I think everyone should read it if they are into reading these types.  Zoey brings you into the story and makes you feel as if you are in it.  She has a way with words that's for sure.

I have read a few others of her books and One Week has become my favorite.

 Excerpt:

I feel his hand come across my collar bone and gently press against my neck and jaw, possessing me, forcing me to put my head back onto his shoulder as we continue to sway to the music. His erection is pressed hard against my backside and I can’t quite judge the size of it, but it is all I can think about until he whispers into my ear. “You’re a bad girl.” I feel a strong sense of authority in his voice and my knees weaken at the sexy raspiness of it. Strong, yet it’s sweet. The song winds down and I’m so caught up in his words, and our dance, that it takes a minute to realize we’ve stopped moving and that his hands are missing from my body. Realizing that I’m standing there all alone, I turn around, trying desperately to see him, but I can’t, not over the crowd and I’m disappointed that he’s left. Then immediately I realize that I’ve just had this extremely intimate dance with a man and I have no idea who he is.

“So you’re warning me away from you?” I was appalled. “Then why are you doing this…guarding me at all? Why the torment? Why watch over me when you know that…that we should be more?” I felt on the verge of tears, which amazed me. How could pain be so sharp in the afterlife? “Answer me, Eran. Why?”
He sighed. “Because it is my job.”
I gasped, more offended than I’d ever been. “I’m a job to you?” I stared at him and waited for his head to rise but he refused to look at me.
“Yes,” he said weakly, defeated. His beautiful, rugged voice released as a whimper and the pain inside me grew. “You are just a job.”
I didn’t think it was possible but the emptiness I’d felt with Eran being gone those many weeks held no comparison to the magnitude of what I was experiencing right now.
I felt as if I had been gutted.
“No…” I shook my head. “I don’t believe you because you see, Eran, I can feel your emotions run through me. Whether you want to admit them or not, I know how you feel about me.”
Stunned, his head jerked up, his brilliant blue-green eyes drilling into mine. “You feel me too? How can that be?”
“I don’t know. But I do know that I feel in you the same emotions I have.”
He groaned and turned away. “That’s not possible…” he muttered, pausing. When he spoke again his voice was strained, determined. I drew in a breath as the intensity of these emotions ran through me. “It doesn’t matter. I won’t let this happen. This will not happen…I will not let us be together.”
“Because you are my guardian? Then let me make it easy on us…You’re fired.”
“It doesn’t work that way, Magdalene,” he said, quieter but still resolute.
“I didn’t want you to watch over me, Eran. I never asked for it.”
As if he’d become an entirely new person, his reply was flat and detached. “You’re a messenger. You require a guardian. It’s as simple as that.”
“Then we’ve just solved the issue, didn’t we?” I said causing him to finally look up. “This will be my last message. It’s from me to you…goodbye Eran.”

Turning swiftly, I walked away just before the tears came.

Can Lilly convince Torren to leave Vittoria to be with her and help the Organization find a peaceful solution to the conflict, or will Vittoria and a vampire war come between Torren and Lilly and their happily ever after?

Review

The Awakening series is not like other books that I have read.  It was a good type of different read.  Awakening 3 is 50 years in the future from book 2 in this series.  I enjoyed the book and I just had to know where Torren, Lilly and Vittoria's paths led them.  It goes to show first impressions are not always best. Jealousy can stand in the way of true happiness.  What may work for some may not always work for others. I would like to add that Lilly is a little more forgiving and accepting that I would be.

“I’m just trying to understand…was she always like this?” Lilly asked.
“Like what?” Torren said, genuinely confused.
“So…selfish and self-serving. I mean, was she different as a human? Is that why you fell in love with her?”
Torren sat up, struggling to maintain his temper, reminding himself that Lilly had very limited experience with Vittoria. “Lilly, I realize that what you’ve seen of Vittoria has not given you a very good impression of her, but I have known her for a very long time. She is a good person, if a bit impulsive. She cares for me deeply, and it was her love for me that led her to try to ease my suffering. I’m not saying she was right to do what she did, but she certainly isn’t unfeeling.”
Lilly softened immediately. “Oh, I’m so sorry, Torren. I shouldn’t have said that. I can tell that you care deeply for her.”
Somewhat mollified, Torren settled back against the pillows again. He took Lilly’s hand and kissed her knuckles. “Apology accepted,” he said. “Thank you.”
She settled back against him and ran her hand over his chest to his bicep. “I can only imagine how hard this decision must have been for you. I want you to know that I’m truly grateful. You won’t be sorry.”
Torren stilled, trying to understand what Lilly was talking about. “What?”
“I just mean that given your history and how much you care for her, it must have been hard to leave her and come here.”
“Not really,” he said, still not getting it. “She was out when I left.”
“Oh! Did you leave a note or something?”
“Yes, I let her know I was coming here and didn’t know when I’d be home.”
It was Lilly’s turn to pause. “Home to collect your things, you mean?”
“What?” he repeated.
Lilly sat up and looked down at him, doubt welling in her eyes. He sat up too and studied her.
“When are you going to tell her?” she said carefully.
“Tell her what?” Torren replied, and only then did he begin to guess what she meant. Her next words confirmed it.
“When are you going to tell Vittoria that you are leaving her for me?”

Excerpt

“Jetsam!” his twin brother Flotsam whispered.  “Get down!  We shouldn’t be here.”  Jetsam’s ragged pant leg tightened from his brother’s pull.  The second-hand breeches were ill-fitting for the growing youth.  Jetsam’s trousers, and his wrinkled tunic, were swiped from a peasant’s clothesline.  With a grunt, Jetsam jerked his leg free of his brother’s grasp.
Jetsam hung from the stone wall, transfixed on a maiden strolling in the garden below him.  With the tip of his nose resting on the ashlar, his aching fingers clung to the bulwark’s lip.  Jetsam’s nostrils flared at the fragrances rising in the warm night air.  The toes of his shoddy boots wedged into the cracks between the blocks.
Upon first glimpse, Jetsam noticed the girl’s eyes.  Her crystalline orbs drew him in, mesmerizing Jetsam.  Sallow moonlight danced in her locks, shimmering like waves.  Willowy and angelic, the somber lass displayed a regal air.  She meandered the flagstone path amidst flowers and shrubs, drifting like a leaf on the wind.  Surrounded by low hedges, she moved out of earshot.
“Jet-sssam,” Flotsam hissed again.  “Stick to the alleys.  This is too dangerous!” he whispered.  “Can’t believe you sodding talked me into this.”
Jetsam snorted.  Only had to pester you about it every day for weeks, he thought.  If only you’d relax, then we could enjoy our birthday!  Jetsam was amazed he convinced his brother to go this far.  For months he envisioned this special adventure for their special day, but convincing his cautious twin was another hurdle.  Swimming the moat was hazard enough, but creeping inside the castle through a narrow drainage chute was risky indeed.  Must be the full moon, he rationalized.
“Sheer lunacy, sneaking into the Citadel—birthday or not,” the pragmatic Flotsam warned, whispering his brother’s thoughts while maintaining his sense of reason.  “Turn back while we can.”
Despite the plea, Jetsam didn’t budge.  Logic fell on deaf ears.  Captivated by the lass, Jetsam ignored his twin’s urging.
“Seem rather fond of that wall,” Flotsam teased.  “Find a soft spot?”
“Always the jester,” Jetsam replied with a smirk.  “Come have a look,” he whispered.
Visibly flustered, Flotsam scaled the rough surface alongside his brother.  Inside the yard, trees rustled in the midnight breeze while their branches shaded flowers and bushes from the lunar radiance.
“Let’s go inside!” goaded Jetsam, blue eyes flashing with enthusiasm.  He glanced at Flotsam’s stern face.  Bet he’s hungry, Jetsam connived.  “Look at those apples!” Jetsam exclaimed in a high whisper.  “Can you imagine eating one?  Fresh and juicy—not some chewed-up core.  Fill our sacks and not a one’ll be missed.”  The trick to getting his brother over the wall was to convince him of the garden’s bounty.  A meeting with the mysterious girl would be Jetsam’s secret birthday present.

“You’re not looking at apples,” Flotsam retorted, “and she’ll holler for the stinkin’ guard.  We’ve done just fine filchin’ in town.  Always enough for both of us, and then some.”
